Spain’s temporary border checks on arrivals from Italy have ended
From 00:00 on 23 October 2026, Spain’s temporary border checks on passengers arriving from Italy by air or sea have ended. The last extension expired at midnight on 22 October. Article 2 of Order INT/1033/2026 provides for automatic lifting when that period ends, without a separate decision.
For international residents and visitors travelling on these routes, this ends the additional temporary border-check measure. Carry the valid travel document and any visa or residence documentation required for your journey. Normal transport security and document requirements still apply, and the change does not extend anyone’s permitted stay.

Why it matters
Travellers arriving in Spain from Italy by air or sea are no longer subject to this additional temporary border-check measure; normal travel-document and immigration requirements continue.
